Benefits of a two-year masters

We know that our graduates are very well-placed to gain highly-skilled roles in the best organisations after meaningful exposure to the workplace during study. We are proud that 95% of our graduates enter work or further study within six months of graduation (HESA, 2018).

The two-year masters with professional practice allows you to gain real experience in a real workplace while remaining within the support network of the University.

If you're an international student, the two-year masters gives you a unique opportunity to benefit from a professional placement in the UK. You'll have the opportunity for hands-on work experience over two trimesters before you graduate, giving you a valuable extra year in a UK work environment over two trimesters.

Join one of our two-year masters with professional practice courses to:

  • Build your confidence and professional skills in a structured and supported environment.
  • Gain real-world experience from the workplace to enhance your CV.
  • Build the skills necessary for a challenging, fast-moving global environment.
  • Gain a valued qualification which gives you a competitive edge in the UK and international employment market.

We provide you with intensive support before, during and after your placement to help you to take full advantage of the experience and embrace what we know will be a huge, but very rewarding, learning curve. When you graduate with placement experience, you'll be attractive to employers because you have knowledge and understanding of your chosen sector and the skills to translate that knowledge into practice.

You will gain life-changing experience, enabling you to enter a wide range of organisations, in both the public and private sectors, or to successfully set up your own business.

If you don't progress to year two, you can still graduate with a masters in your discipline, for example you may gain MSc International Marketing rather than MSc International Marketing with Professional Practice.
