Speaker bio
Kishore Gopalakrishna Pillai is a Professor of marketing at the Bradford University school of management. He holds a Ph.D. from Florida state University and an MBA from Indian Institute of management, Calcutta. Prior to this position, he served as a reader of marketing at the Aston business school and as a lecturer/senior lecturer in marketing at the Leeds University business school. His research focus is on consumer knowledge, social networks and retailing. His papers have been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Retailing, International Journal of research in marketing, Journal of product innovation management, British Journal of management, Journal of business research etc. He is on the editorial boards of Journal of business research and industrial marketing management.

Seminar brief
The presentation takes a broad view of the evolution of the streams of research on consumer and managerial decision-making, with particular focus on behavioural decision theory and its influence on marketing research. The topics discussed include rational models and heuristics and biases. Aspects of managerial decision-making, which has not attracted much research, are looked into. The presentation also discusses the recent advances in studying emotion. Some topics for future research are suggested.
